[ARCHIVED] PLOTTING
These pages are being preserved for reference but are no longer active and will not be updated. Please visit modormenace for all current game information!
‣ Please come to us with as many details as possible about your plot. We understand if you have questions, but we do not have time to write players' plots for them.
‣ If we feel your plot warrants some revisions to make it more game or setting appropriate, we will tell you.
‣ Please check the CALENDAR before submitting your plot. If the dates you've requested are unavailable due to overlap with a previously scheduled plot, we will tell you.
‣ Please limit the number of game-wide plot submissions to one per month or fewer, even if your plot is to take place in a following month. Unfortunately, it will not be possible to run multiple plots submitted by one player in the same month, as we must accommodate and be fair to other player plots while scheduling mod-run plots at the same time. Similarly, having to process multiple plot requests from the same player in short succession is time consuming and delays how quickly we can process requests from other players. Privately run plots and/or small-scale events may also be rescheduled if necessary.
‣ Any and all questions players have should be submitted in their initial plot request, if possible. Detailed inquiries, particularly on overarching plot-related matters, may take some time to process, given the mods require lengthy discussion among one another to determine what plot information can be revealed at a time without spoiling future plots and/or how to have these requests interact with the plot at large, as such, we will no longer be answering extended follow-up questions in this vein once the plot has been approved; please limit follow-up questions to clarification only.
‣ Please limit plotting requests soliciting information from the mods to one at a time, per player, as it takes the mods time to put together this information and determine what information is significantly appropriate to pass on without impeding other players who also wish to investigate. To curb the amount of information and any future information dispensed from being withheld or dropped altogether, we ask that in order for a player to receive further plot information, the information they have already received in a previous request must be shared ICly in with others in the game uninvolved with the information gathering to prevent individual or small groups of players from collecting information and not taking any further action with it. Submitting multiple requests in a short amount of time for information does not guarantee you will receive it.
‣ When submitting a request to investigate metaplot items, while an initial request to find out if a certain item can be investigated or will yield results is both welcome and encouraged, no 'final answers' to ICly investigated items will be given until proof of an IC thread investigating the requested item is posted to us. Even items which only a sole character is required to investigate (such as hacking) require at least one IC paragraph regarding character motivations/goals to be submitted.
‣ If and when your plot is approved, you are required to post a public notice to maskormenaceooc at least 24 hours in advanced of the start of the plot. If it will require sign-ups or volunteers, we recommend at least 48 hours notice, as well as labeling the post with the appropriate tags.
‣ We ask that you be patient while waiting for a response as an immediate reply to your request is not always guaranteed. If your request requires an immediate mod response, please mention it in the form so we are aware. We receive a very high volume of plot requests in any given day, week, or month, and many of them require lengthy discussion on our part to ensure all details can coordinate and are workable.
‣ If your request is meant to be timely, please submit it at least 5 days prior to your intended start date, as for the reasons outlined above it may take us some discussion and time to process, particularly if there are many other requests ahead of it. For the same reasons, we will ask players to avoid submitting retroactive plot requests, particularly if they affect the game on a whole, a large number of players, and/or if they are related to the overarching plot. Retroactive requests not only put a time constraint on the mods to respond where an immediate response is not feasible, but may inadvertently take precedence over other player submissions. This is unfair to both mods and players alike, therefore we kindly request for players to avoid doing so.

‣ Remember that Swear-Ins are, by and large, government-run events. This means that the premise should be acceptable by any government's standards. If things go awry - and they often do! - that's perfectly fine, but make sure that the scenario itself fits! The government is very flexible, and has had Swear-Ins at parties, festivals, even tech demos in the past, but they certainly won't be sponsoring any fights to the death!
‣ When pitching a Swear-In, remember to give us as much detail as possible! The sooner we okay your idea, the sooner you can get to writing.
‣ You must have a date in mind for the Swear-In once you have pitched it to us, and we require that you send us a draft of your Swear-In at a minimum of 72 hours in advance, although more notice is always welcome!
‣ When writing the Swear-In, remember that it's used as a mingle log for all characters, old and new! To that end, we ask that you mimic the length and amount of prompts found in our typical Swear-Ins. Pertinent examples are our Boardwalk Swear-In, our Space Training Swear-In, and the player-run Halloween Swear-In! The key ingredients here are to ensure that there's plenty for all characters to interact with, and that you make your prompts clear and easy to read.
‣ Be creative, and have fun! Swear-Ins are a great opportunity to stretch your creativity and the setting, and we hope that you'll all enjoy the opportunity of running such an important game-wide event!
