Galla

The following are noteworthy elements of De Chima during this current era of Galla.

While Galla's primary focus is on attempting to ease or remove the restrictions imposed upon imPorts, she takes assisting the city she has been elected to seriously. Likewise, she is seeking to at least maintain the positive relationship that the previous ambassador established with natives, if not improve upon it. Her first actions have been to review the work of her predecessor to determine what can be maintained and what can be improved upon.

She is particularly interested in the emergency response network that Ambassador Vorkosigan established and would like to expand upon it. She is interested in creating a volunteer group of imPorts that can be called upon during emergencies that may not be imPort created, but are still a high risk. It's her hope that encouraging imPorts to assist with emergencies that none of them are responsible for will help to improve relations with natives. Similarly, she thinks many of the humanitarian efforts that were started are excellent, viable ideas, and is dedicating the first few months of her term to actually following through on some of them. Her first project will be finishing a soup kitchen and pushing through the necessary paperwork to open up a nearby shelter for the homeless.

She will also be maintaining his fund to help provide capital for imPort businesses and investing in native business (with the help of native accountants to guide her in management of the fund). However she will be much more selective in her choices and will focus on businesses which help the community as a whole—preferably the imPort community, but any business that can benefit the collective citizens will be considered.

All that said, she has not forgotten her campaign promises of easing restrictions on natives. She is preparing proposals to present to the government on the matter, but is taking the time and care to understand the political climate, laws, and guidelines of this world in order to present the best case possible.
